ionicons-v5-a Back to 2023 Special Report

Tax and Fiscal

Grade: B-

An analysis of Scott’s tax and fiscal record shows a rather inconsistent approach to limited government principles surrounding controlling spending and government growth. In some years Scott would stand strong and oppose the large run-away spending packages that were presented to him. However, in other years he would cave to the fiscally irresponsible budgets and spending programs. While Scott periodically throws his support behind conservative budget proposals and opposition to earmarks, Scott has a long track record of supporting a significant amount of wasteful foreign aid spending.
