This bill, the "Commercial Property Assessed Conservation, Energy, and Resiliency Cooperation Law," provides financing to commercial property owners for certain government-approved improvements such as increased energy efficiency. This bill allows trucks hauling certain agricultural products to exceed the maximum vehicle weight by up to 10% within a 150-mile radius of a farm. This includes any "agricultural or farm product" as well as finished products being hauled to a processing or retail facility. While some may argue this bill undermines "local control", our founding fathers only recognized three entities within the U.S. Constitution - federal government, state government, and the individual. It is not the role for any level of government to unduly infringe the rights of individuals, therefore making preemption measures, such as this bill, necessary.
