An analysis of Haley’s record on healthcare shows an excellent commitment to limited government principles. As Governor, Haley had a rock-solid record of opposing the expansion of Obamacare. Additionally, she worked to hold Medicaid spending in check by vetoing measures by the legislature to weaken accountability and the ability to make provider cuts. Finally, she vetoed multiple measures by the legislature to impose certificate of need regulations which restrict competition and drive-up costs in healthcare.
